Run the Hermes agent on an always-on machine

Hermes is Nous Research's agent. It is downloaded onto every machine during the build, so starting it does not start with a download.

It comes with two surfaces. Its own dashboard — model providers, keys and past sessions — answers on a hostname of its own under the machine's HTTPS name, and the CLI is a tab in the terminal workspace beside Claude Code, Codex and OpenCode.

How it arrives

On the machine
Installed as part of the build
At boot
Starts when you start it, and holds nothing until then
Memory while running
about 2 GB

We did not write Hermes. It is NousResearch/hermes-agent. We install it on every machine and put it behind the login.

Started when you want it

Hermes is installed but does not start on its own, so it holds no memory until you ask for it. Starting it is a switch on the dashboard.

The machine is a real VM that keeps running when you close the tab. A process you start does not stop because your laptop slept, your train went into a tunnel, or you switched to your phone.

Questions

Is Hermes running by default?
No. It is installed on every machine but starts only when you start it, so it costs nothing while idle.

Once you have one

It comes with the machine

Every tool on this site is installed on every machine. You are choosing a size, not a bundle.
